USDA's Food and Nutrition Service: FNS increases food security and reduces hunger in partnership with cooperating organizations by providing children and low-income people access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education in a manner that supports American agriculture and inspires public confidence. Wisconsin Governor Doyle's Healthy Kids Initiatives.

Lighten Up, Wisconsin.

Action for Healthy Kids is about creating health-promoting schools that support sound nutrition and physical activity as part of a total learning environment.

University of South Carolina Prevention Research Center. Excellent site with many links related to physical activity and public health.

National Safety Council Partnership for a Walkable America. Includes a quiz you can use to determine how walkable your neighborhood can be.

Food Stamp Nutrition Connection.   A resource system for Food Stamp Program nutrition education providers.

Food and Nutrition Information Center.   FNIC's web site provides a directory to credible, accurate, and practical resources for consumers, nutrition and health professionals, educators and government personnel. Visitors can find printable format educational materials, government reports, research papers and more. From here, find links to Childcare Nutrition Resource System, Food Safety, WIC Works Resource System, Healthy School Meals Resource System, and Food Stamp Nutrition Connection.

Nutrition Resources Webography. Bibliography of websites related to food and nutrition, compiled by UW-Madison Steenbock Memorial Library and UWExtension.

Federal Citizen Information Center .  The Consumer Information Catalog brings together publications from more than 40 agencies, providing the public with one convenient source for federal consumer information. USDA pamphlets and fact sheets on food and health are available to download or order.

National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases (NIH) Weight Control Network. Information for consumers about nutrition and physical activity, including screen versions of several booklets and pamphlets.

Families

Wellness in the Rockies - comprehensive program to address obesity and physical activity. Site includes many links and resources.

Eat Right Montana's award-winning campaign, "Healthy Families," promoting healthful eating and physical activity.  Monthly packets from the past four years include a press release and two handouts.

Teens

Power of Choice. Quick, simple activities to do with young teens in after-school programs.

VERB- It's what you do. A national, multicultural, social marketing campaign coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The VERB campaign encourages young people ages 9 - 13 (tweens) years to be physically active every day.

School-age children

TEAM Nutrition reaches a broad audience with information on nutrition education, healthy eating and physical activity, with a focus on schools. This site features resources such as Children's Food Guide Pyramid, Nibbles for Health, Power of Choice, and MANY others.

"Eat Smart, Play Hard" - USDA's Food and Nutrition Service collection of materials featuring the Power Panther.  Campaign is targeted to kids, but includes tip sheets and brochures for parents.  Four main messages include "make family time an active time" and "grab quick and easy snacks."

For classroom teachers: Louisiana Schools TEAM Nutrition project, Nutrition Across the Curriculum.

Special populations

"Stay Active and Feel Better"   Bilingual booklet for Latino families about heart disease and stroke prevention.

Sisters Together: Move More, Eat Better is a national initiative of the Weight-control Information Network (WIN) designed to encourage Black women 18 and over to maintain a healthy weight by becoming more physically active and eating healthier foods.
