Dietary Protein Intake Validation StudyUW-Madison Dept. of Nutritional Sciences is conducting a research study to test a new method for assessing protein intake profiles, which may be useful as an objective and sensitive biomarker to differentiate the fraction of animal and vegetable protein in an individual diet. Q: What is the purpose of this research study? A: We are interested in testing the accuracy of a biomarker method to measure how much of the protein you eat is from animal products and how much is from plants. Q: Who can participate? A: Young and healthy volunteers who do not have a history of metabolic disease, or are not taking prescription medications for altered metabolic conditions. Q: What is metabolic disease? A: Metabolic disease includes thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease such as hyperlipidemia or high blood pressure.
